How To ‘Trick’ Your Way To Successful Weight Loss

I was reading a research study the other day by Dr Robert Sherwin of Yale University School of Medicine. In the study, Dr Sherwin says that “there essentially may be biological reasons why people can’t necessarily control their desire for food.”

What this means is that some people may be able to summon more mental defenses to resist high-calorie food than others. Presumably, thin people fall into the former category and obese people the latter.

The more I thought about this, the more I can relate to this study. When I was fat and unfab, I was basically unable to resist the temptation to eat those glorious high-calorie food in my view. Apparently, the part of the brain used for impulse control shows high level of activity for thin people that are showed high-calorie food, as opposed to little activity shown by obese people.

This got me thinking. Why then is Fat Loss For Idiots able to help overweight people lose the pounds whereas other weight loss programs aren’t as successful? This has got something to do with the brain, ain’t it?

Let’s see if we can correlate the success of Fat Loss For Idiots weight loss program to the study.
The fatlossforidiots program involves 11 days of food plans. You follow the specific food plan of 4 meals a day. The types of food you eat each day is rotated to keep your metabolism from falling into a rut. After 11 days, you can eat whatever you fancy for 3 days, and the cycle repeats itself.

Now going back to the study by Dr Sherwin, which essentially says that obese people can’t resist the impulse to eat. If this is the case, then obese people will forever be obese! Now, if we look at the fatlossforidiots program, what it does is it ‘tricked’ the brain into believing that what you are eating is what you fancy, by shifting different calories and rotating the types of food you eat.

Now that’s a healthy way to trick your way to a successful weight loss!

4 Fad Diets To Avoid For Healthier Weight Loss

Desperate to lose weight? I know how you feel. I’ve been down that road before. As much as we crave for fast results, there are just some things that you shouldn’t do to get a quick fix. Here are 4 fad diets that you should avoid like a plague if you want to achieve healthier weight loss.

Atkins Diet

By far the most popular diet for the last few decades, the Atkins diet was made popular by many celebrity followers. However, a meat-based, low fiber diet like Atkins that advocates no fruit or starchy vegetables will almost double your risk of heart diseases.

The American Heart Association (AHA) does not recommend high-protein diets for weight loss. They argue that the Atkins diet restricts healthy foods that provide essential nutrients, and that it has not been proven effective for long term weight loss.

Cabbage Soup Diet

The cabbage soup diet is a radical weight loss diet designed around heavy consumption of a low-calorie cabbage soup over the time of seven days. With little nutritional variety or food diversity, it makes following this diet extremely difficult. In the long run you will almost certainly regain the weight loss.

Macrobiotic Diet

Made famous by Gwyneth Paltrow, a macrobiotic diet involves eating grains as a staple food supplemented with other foodstuffs such as local vegetables, avoiding the use of highly processed or refined foods and most animal products.

Without any animal or diary products on the menu, the risk of protein, iron and Vitamin B12 deficiencies increases, which can result in many health problems later.

Maple Syrup Diet

Endorsed by Beyonce, the Maple syrup diet involves drinking a mix of syrup, lemon juice, cayenne pepper and water for a couple of weeks.

It may help you to lose plenty of weight, but this low calorie diet plan will leave you hungry, irritable and lacking in energy as your blood sugar levels go on a roller coaster ride of highs and lows. And chances are, the pounds will go straight back on as soon as you stop the diet.

There you have it. Chasing the latest fad to jump on the weight loss bandwagon will surely lead you to more weight gain misery. However, if there is one fad diet that you should follow, it’s worthwhile to take a look at the Calorie Shifting Diet.

This weight loss programme has had plenty of success and has been hailed by many women for years by helping them lose weight not only in the shortest time, but in the long run as well.

A calorie shifting diet is a way to control what you eat without completely depriving yourself. The word “shifting” refers to the practice of eating a different number of calories each day. You do this by varying your foods so each meal is made up of different combos of protein, carbs, and fats. This keeps your body guessing so it doesn’t get too comfortable with one consistent calorie level.

The advantage of this diet is you can eat the foods you like for a few days on a regular diet cycle. This completely avoids the feeling of deprivation, which can be a big turn-off for many people.

These Are The Best Weight Loss Tips, In My Opinion

The best weight loss tips are those that advocate living a healthy lifestyle and adopting a holistic approach to weight loss. If you want to lose weight, it is normal to think about reducing the amount of food you eat. This may be a common solution but not exactly recommended. In fact, depending on the amount you reduce in your food intake, it may even be dangerous to your health. So how do you lose weight effectively and safely? Here are some points you should consider when trying to lose weight:

Beware Of The Crash Diets

If you think that reducing the calories intake alone can shed off your excess fats, well think again. What you don’t know is that this could be dangerous because when you decrease your calorie intake to way below the required level, your body begins to digest the fats. This may sounds good, but your body doesn’t actually get rid of the fats. Burning fat requires a lot of energy. Since there is not much energy in the body to facilitate metabolism, it will run at a very slow pace resulting in fatigue, illness and weak immune system.

Low-calorie diet is also compensated for by the body by burning muscle. People on this type of diet who revert back to their old eating habits end up gaining back some, if not all the weight they have shed off. This would consist mainly of fats. And since fats have more volume per mass than muscle, they end up having the same weight as before but more bulkier. In losing weight, you should keep in mind that you should lose excess body fats only.

However, you can try out eating small meals at more frequent intervals. This way your body will not think that it is being starved and will not store food as fats.

Eat Properly

You may have considered junking the crash diet option but you should also not forget to watch what you are eating. Variety must always be considered so that you may be able to get the necessary nutrients from your diet. It is also healthier to eat food which are roasted, steamed or broiled rather than fried, as advocated in the calorie shifting diet menu. It is also important to include a lot of fiber in the diet. Frequent rehydration is also necessary.

Do Lots Of Walking

Muscles burn calories when they work; they even do so at rest. Unlike fats which just lie around, bulge around the pants and dangle beneath the sleeves, muscles burn calories all-day round. With this fact, you can start your weight loss program by increasing your metabolism by brisk walking.

Losing weight does not have to mean sacrifice and suffering. It actually means opening up to a more full and healthy lifestyle where you may not have to feel bad about yourself having to look the way you do or not being able to do what you want to do. Losing weight might entail a little adjustments, but as the old saying goes, “no pain, no gain.” Besides fat, what have you got to lose anyway?

How Did Oprah Lose Weight?

I remember vividly a few years ago how fabulous Oprah looked when she was thinner. She went from monster size to slim and lean and then back to plus size again. How did Oprah manage to lose so much weight and then to put it back on again so quickly?

Back then, Oprah could’ve put many ladies half her age to shame with the kind of killer bod that she had. It just goes to show you can’t take your weight loss effort for granted and how quickly your weight can creep back up in a short period of time.

This was what Oprah had to say about her weight problem at her magazine site.

“It happened slowly. In February 2007, at 53, I started to have some health issues. At first I was unable to sleep for days. My legs started swelling. My weight started creeping up, first 5 pounds, then 10 pounds. I was lethargic and irritable. My internal clock seemed totally out of whack. I began having rushing heart palpitations every time I worked out. Okay, I’ve never loved daily exercise, but this was different. I actually developed a fear of working out. I was scared that I would pass out. Or worse. I felt as if I didn’t know my own body anymore.”

If only Oprah had used the Calorie Shifting Diet!

Calorie shifting diet revolves around the idea of tricking your metabolism so it doesn’t prevent weight reduction by slowing down to accommodate a reduced calorie eating style.

The basic premise of calorie shifting includes the following concepts:

Eat the right food at specific times of the day.
Vary your calorie consumption amounts each day while still remaining within the total weekly calorie allotment.
Your metabolism can’t adjust or slow down because your body doesn’t know what to expect because calorie intake on a daily basis will vary.
Since the food you eat will vary in nature, your metabolism can’t adjust to certain food.

Weight Loss Results

The results of my weight loss endeavor is nothing short of phenomenal. It’s been only about a month since I started the fatloss4idiots diet plan and I have already lost 23 pounds.

The results are better than I have expected them to be. This weight loss diet really gives me hope that I could be successful fighting the fats that I have so helplessly been trying to get rid off all these years.

Let’s do a simple math and see when I can achieve my long term weight objective of 110 pounds. I hit the scale at 185 pounds before I started this weight loss diet, and I managed to reduce my weight by 23 pounds in about a month. My weight is now 185 – 23 = 162 pounds. In order to reach 110 pounds, it will take me approximately 2.3 months to achieve my goal (162-110/23), assuming I consistently lose 23 pounds every month.

Thereafter, it’s only a matter of weight management and maintenance. How easy is that! The weight loss result so far is so good that it is itself the motivator that keeps spurring me on everyday.

This is really the beginning of a new dawn for me. Before I started, I never thought I could make it this far. What is even more amazing is that I am able to lose so much weight successfully in such a short time. It is really the icing on the cake.

I know there are many people who have gone through what I went through before I discovered this diet program. If you are one of them, I am proof that there are diet programs out there that really work.

Weight loss results differ from person to person. I guess the fact that I have been able to shed so much weight in such a short time is in no small part due to my determination and desire to make it work. Of course it helps to have a good diet program that can make your efforts so much easier.

As well, family support plays a very important part in whatever you do. My kids are too young to know about dieting, but I am fortunate to have a very supportive husband who keeps encouraging me.

Although I have some way to go before I reach my objective, I am confident I will be there in the end ;)
